The first step in your mediation journey is for all parties to agree to mediate.
Your mediator may be someone who is referred to you by a friend, colleague or your solicitor. They will meet with you over the phone, in person or on-line to get a sense of your situation.
A series of joint family mediation sessions are organised.
These sessions are held either in person or on-line and will ensure that: your voice is heard, key issues are identified; options to resolve them are explored with the aim of reaching practical and sustainable agreements
Once the issues identified have been resolved and you have reached an agreement, the mediator prepares the Mediation Agreement, which documents the details of what has been agreed.
Mediation is a facilitative process designed to assist all parties reach a fair and sustainable agreement. It is recommended that before signing the agreement that legal advice is sought, especially where children, finances or property are involved or where the Agreement is to be made legally binding.
